Favorite place to do school work or study?
My desk in my bedroom

Why did you choose to play for NXT over other club teams in the area?

I chose NXT over other programs because of how positive the coaching staff are and the general positive feel of the program. I enjoy the competitive practices.

	Who is your favorite athlete?

Cody Jamieson. He’s not the most athletic player on the lacrosse field but he gets the job done.

What song gets you pumped up to play?

Lights Bassnectar remix

What was the best advice you were ever given?

Shoot Overhand!

What was the coolest/hardest part of learning/playing box lacrosse?
The hardest part was probably that in box lacrosse you had to attack the cage from a different angle and a completely different mindset then how you do in field lacrosse. You can not dodge down an ally unless you are looking to feed and there is almost no room behind the goal so dodging from “X” was completely out of the picture.

What event are you most looking forward to in summer 2012 with NXT?

I’m more looking forward to just getting out with the team and having Casey Brown do a few card tricks in between games then any particular event.

Who is the funniest player on your NXT team?

Definitely the Penncrest trio from Casey’s card tricks to Mango’s jokes to Dylan’s flips were always entertaining in between games.

What is the forecast for your spring high school program?
This year we have had a lot of players injured and we aren’t doing as well as we thought we would, but we are working hard.

Who is your favorite team or player to watch in lacrosse?
Right now I would have to go with Umass because of the explosive offensive talent they bring to the table and the overall energy of the team.

What will you be doing in summer of 2012 other than playing lacrosse?
Hopefully working, golfing and going down to the shore.

Individual Lacrosse Goal: Ride harder than any attackman on the field

	Favorite Food?
Steak

Brett Manney’s take on the NXT Lacrosse Club Winter Performance

The conclusion of the NXT lacrosse winter practices wrapped up at the Northeast's best winter tournament held by NXT sports this past February at the Philadelphia Indoor Lacrosse Championships in Feasterville. Prior to the tournament, the boys had six weekends of personalized lacrosse specific training with NXT's own Steve Musacchio to gear them up for the tournament and provide the best off season training program around. After two weekends of box lacrosse practices the 2014 and 2015 squads showcased their talents in front of some great competition.

In the high school A bracket the 2015 squad emerged from their slow start to make a run at the elusive championship. A late surge by the 2015 squad saw them appear in the championship game which was a rematch against Boro Pride (NJ) who defeated them earlier in the day. Yet the tables were turned and it was very inspiring to watch the boys play hard and play box lacrosse, many for the first time using box lacrosse nets and rules. After a hard fought battle, the NXT 2015 team captured the title in overtime when Sam Friedman (Conestoga) used a pick from Aric Dupell (Governor Mifflin) to net the game winner which was immediately followed by a dog pile in the 7-6 overtime win.

The stingy defense was anchored by goalie John Roulston (Conestoga) while Parke Schweiter (Conestoga) Noah Lejman (Haverford School) and Matt Klinges (Malvern Prep) frustrated opposing attackman all day. Transition play was exciting and inspiring with big time goals and plays from Tristin Sporer (Moorestown) and Mike Farnish (Radnor). On the attack side when crisp passes and pick and rolls were working, there was no stopping the team. Led by Friedman, Dupell, and John Carrozza (Wissahickon) the attack unit tore defenses apart. After seeing the dog pile which was capped off by Colin Reder (Episcopal Academy) who despite being injured supported the team throughout the day, it was very satisfying to see the camaraderie in only six months. Successful teams are the ones which beat with only one heart and throughout the day, the 2015 squad played together and played tough which propelled them to victory and their first of many championships. It was a terrific job of coaching by Andy Hayes, Dan Deckelbaum, and Marty Kupprion. Overall, it was evident the team is comprised of some of the best freshman in the area and there are high hopes in the program for the talented 2015 squad.

The 2014 squad which played in the AA division against older competition showed grit and competitiveness but did not make the playoffs. As the upcoming season approaches the NXT coaches are confident the players will contribute to their varsity squads and make a name for themselves while representing NXT to the utmost respect. We are very excited to get the opportunity to watch them play this spring.

Both teams now will take a break with the high school season upon us. I speak on behalf of the coaching staff of 2014 and 2015 that we are thrilled with their progress and will be watching their teams this spring. They are NXT now its just time to show it to everybody else. Best of luck.
- Coach Manney

Box Lacrosse Infusion at Trashcan Lacrosse Winter Program

This year we began infusing box lacrosse into our Trashcan Lacrosse curriculum, and it has been an awesome experience for all of the players and coaches involved in the winter program at Episcopal Academy. Using smaller nets and box goalie equipment, we have found introducing the game and the skills used in box lacrosse to be very beneficial for developing our young players and their skills. We have designed and implemented drills and games using the box nets + goalies that focus on defensive body position, stick handling, faster play, transition, off-ball movement, and shooting accuracy. Please check out our video footage of our u11, u13, and u15 players enjoying an introduction to box lacrosse!

NXTsports, directors of the Philly Showcase Event Series, are proud to announce the Philly Showcase Camp summer schedule for 2012. The inaugural Philly Boys Showcase Camp will take place June 15-17, 2012, at St. Joseph’s University in Philadelphia, PA, and the second annual Philly Girls Showcase Camp will take place July 17-19, 2012 at Haverford College in Haverford, PA.

The Philly Showcase Camps are based on two principles – Education and Exposure.

First, Education: each Showcase Camp will feature a staff of 12-16 prominent college coaches who are there because they enjoy educating, coaching and working with players to improve their games. The Camps will also feature educational seminars off the field on topics including the college recruitment process, NCAA rules, strength training, and nutrition.

Second, Exposure: each Showcase Camps are designed to allow participants to showcase their abilities in front of the college coaches through game play and small-group instructional sessions.

Said Peter Lawrence, Head Men’s Lacrosse Coach at the University of Hartford and co-director of the 2012 Philly Boys Showcase Camp, “the Philly Showcase Camps came about because there are coaches out there – myself included - who want to help high school players achieve their college lacrosse goals. I believe that players will have a greater likelihood of achieving their goals by attending a camp where they are educated on all aspects of the college process, not just thrown into games without learning anything of use.”

Philly Showcase Camp participants lacrosse will leave better educated not just on the lacrosse field, but also better educated about the college recruitment process, NCAA rules, strength training, and nutrition. Campers will additionally have the experience of living on a college campus and experiencing for a few days the life of a college lacrosse player.

Registration for the Philly Boys and Girls Showcase Camps is now open.

PHILLY SHOWCASE WEEKEND SET TO BEGIN NEXT FRIDAY NIGHT

Schedule Set for Philly Showcase Friday Night Session at St. Joseph’s University to Benefit the NTAF Mid-Atlantic Traumatic Brain Injury Fund in honor of Logan Schweiter

The 2011 Philly Boys Showcase will take place the weekend of November 18-20, 2011, and will begin Friday, November 18 with a special doubleheader of games at St. Joseph’s University. All proceeds from this night will be donated to the NTAF fund in honor of local youth lacrosse player Logan Schweiter to assist with some of Logan’s many uninsured injury-related expenses. Twelve-year-old Logan nearly drowned when trapped before being rescued from floodwaters near his Wayne, PA home last July. Logan attends St. Katherine’s of Siena School in Wayne and is an enthusiastic rising lacrosse player in the Conestoga Youth Lacrosse (CYLAX) program.

The Friday night event is open to all college coaches and to the public. The requested admission donation of $5 goes in full towards the NTAF Mid-Atlantic Traumatic Brain Injury Fund in honor of Logan Schweiter. There will also be a concessions stand with all proceeds going to NTAF. Along with Taylor Wray, NXT Sports wishes to thank St. Joseph’s University and in particular St. Joseph’s Assistant Men’s Lacrosse Coach Dan Keating for working to make this event possible.

The following email was sent to all participants today:

Dear Philly Boys Showcase Sophomore/Junior Players and Parents,

As you know, the 2011 Philly Boys Showcase is taking place on Saturday, November 19. This email contains important information about the event and about our communication schedule leading up to the event.

 ROSTERS/GAME SCHEDULE

The team rosters and the final game schedule for the Philly Boys Showcase will be released this Friday. The rosters and schedule will first be available on our media partner, PhillyLacrosse.com. We will also email them to all participants in our final email early next week (discussed below) and put them on our website.

 FINAL EMAIL

We will be sending a final email to all participants and parents early next week. We are aiming for Tuesday, and it will be Wednesday at the latest. That email will include a detailed map of the venue and detailed directions and parking information. It will review registration procedures and the couple of things you need to bring to the event. It will also review the free video of all games that will be provided to all participants and describe how that process will work.

 WEATHER POLICY

The Philly Showcase is going to occur rain or shine. Just for your information, in the highly unfortunate event that we get heavy rain the day of the event and the natural surface fields at Episcopal Academy become unplayable, the Philly Showcase will enact its weather contingency plan. All games will be moved to the turf fields at Episcopal and all teams will be guaranteed a minimum of two games.

 REFUND POLICY

The Philly Showcase is completely full at this time and all player data is in the process of being sent to press to create the program book for college coaches. At this time we cannot fill any additional spots off the wait list and are thus unable to process any refunds except for documented medical conditions.

 TEXT ALERT

We ask all players and attending parents to register for the Philly Showcase text alert system by texting "2011SHOWCASE" to 84483. We have found texting to be the most effective method of communication during events, and will use the system to keep everyone updated about schedule, parking, and weather issues should they arise.

Finally, we are very excited for this event and to host all of you. We believe the group of players participating on Saturday the 19th represents one of the best collections of high school lacrosse talent ever put together.

If you have any other questions please check the site or email us.

 See you at the event,

Dear Philly Girls Showcase participants and parents,

The Philly Girls Showcase is this Saturday, November 5! This is your final pre-event email and it contains important information about day of event procedures, so please review carefully!

Location

The Philly Girls Showcase is taking place on Saturday, November 5 at the Westtown School. Directions to Westtown School are available at: http://www.westtown.edu/directions/directions.aspx.

The main entrance of the Westtown School is located at 975 Westtown Road, West Chester, PA 19382. HOWEVER, all participants must enter campus at the school's South Entrance to school. The GPS address for the Westtown School South Entrance is 999 Westtown Road, West Chester, PA 19382.

We have attached an event-specific campus map to this email. All participants and families may park in the blue lots. As you enter campus at the South Entrance parking staff will be present to guide you to the proper parking lots.

Registration

Registration will begin at 7:00 AM sharp in the registration tent, which is marked on the attached map. Please note that we have to register many players between 7:00 and 8:00am, so try to get there as close to 7:00 AM as possible. All players MUST BRING THE COMPLETED MANDATORY MEDICAL FORM WITH THEM TO REGISTRATION. There will be no exceptions to this policy. We have attached another copy of the medical form to this email.

At registration each player will receive a complimentary event backpack containing her numbered reversible for the event, a credentials badge, a copy of her team roster and schedule, and other goodies. Please note that we will be taking a photo of each player at registration.

Schedule/Rosters

Following registration players will be separated into their teams for morning warmups and games. The Philly Showcase rosters and the final morning game schedule are attached to this email. Please note that the roster document has ten teams listed on it, you must scroll down through the document to view all the teams.

Morning games will conclude by around 1pm. There will then be a lunch break and a skills clinic. During this break Showcase Lacrosse will publish rosters for the afternoon deBeer Lacrosse Fab Forty all-star games. The all-star games will begin around 1:30 and conclude by 4pm.

All-Star Selections

The Philly Girls Showcase will have two afternoon all-star games. The first game will be the 2012/2013 all-star game, and the second all-star game will be the 2014/2015 all-star game.

Selecting all-stars is the hardest part of any Showcase event. There is no perfect way to do it, but this is what we do. We assign two evaluators to watch every game, those evaluators are prominent and highly experienced local girls lacrosse coaches. They assign a numerical grade to every player in every game. As the event progresses we collect these reports and compile the scores. At the end of the morning we tally the top-scoring players and announce the all-stars.

Clothes/Weather/Food

All players will receive a custom event tank reversible to wear during games. It is highly recommended that players check the weather in advance and otherwise dress appropriately. The weather forecast for this weekend is excellent, sunny and in the 50s, but it will still be very cold when games begin in the morning so come prepared.

Westtown School will be operating a concessions stand throughout the day with a full and varied menu, though players and spectators are certainly welcome to bring their own snacks, meals and drinks. Alcoholic beverages are strictly prohibited from campus.

If you have any other questions please check the site and always feel free to email us.

See you at the event,
